As a Journeyman Electrician, you will ensure data center electrical systems are installed, maintained, and repaired to the highest standardsriving uptime, safety, and compliance while supporting project delivery across multiple sites.
Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities- Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems, including wiring, conduits, lighting, and control systems in strict adherence to codes and standards.
- Perform routine inspections of electrical systems and equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical issues, implementing effective and efficient solutions.
- Ensure all electrical work complies with local, state, and federal regulations and codes.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries; report unsafe conditions immediately.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry standards and practices and utilize appropriate tools and equipment, ensuring proper maintenance.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to determine layout and customer needs.
- Coordinate with electricians, technicians, and data center staff to install, test, and commission systems within project timelines.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding project status and issues.
- Provide guidance and training to apprentices and less experienced electricians as needed.
- Keep work areas clean and organized; maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used.
- Assist in preparing project status reports as required.
- Respond promptly to emergencies (e.g., outages, failures) to minimize downtime; participate in on-call rotation as required.
- Travel 6070% to various data center locations or project sites, following travel policies and procedures.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Ability to work a 40-hour work week; overtime and night shifts as required.
- Valid drivers license meeting insurance requirements to drive company vehicles.
- 4+ years of experience as an electrician; 1+ year in data center or similar preferred.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail; excellent understanding of electrical principles per local and national codes.
- Ability to self-motivate and manage workflow independently and collaboratively; strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents.
- Proficiency with tools/equipment: saws, threaders, wire tuggers, knock punches, hand/mechanical/hydraulic benders, cable cutters, hammer drills, compression tools, jack hammers.
- Operate and work from mechanical personnel lifts (electric or gas powered).
