Generator Technician

Crossley Scott are working on behalf of a client who is seeking an experienced and dependable Generator Technician to join their team in the Atlanta metropolitan area
. This role is ideal for a mechanically skilled professional with hands-on experience servicing residential, commercial, and industrial generators. The Generator Technician will be responsible for ensuring reliable generator performance through thorough inspections, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs. This position offers competitive hourly pay ranging from $30–$50 per hour
, based on experience, certifications, and technical expertise.

• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and detailed inspections on standby and portable generators to ensure optimal performance and reliability
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and fuel system issues using testing equipment, technical manuals, and schematics
• Complete repairs and component replacements, including oil and filter changes, belts, hoses, batteries, starters, alternators, and control components
• Troubleshoot system failures and respond to service calls efficiently, minimizing downtime for customers
• Accurately document all service work, inspections, repairs, and maintenance activities in service records
• Provide professional technical guidance to customers on proper generator operation, maintenance schedules, and system care
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, ensuring tools and equipment are properly maintained
• Stay current with advancements in generator technology, emissions standards, and manufacturer updates through training and continuing education
• Follow all company policies, safety standards, and OSHA guidelines while performing job duties
• Participate in on-call rotations and flexible scheduling as required to support customer needs, including emergency service calls

• High school diploma or equivalent (technical or vocational training preferred)
• Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience servicing generators, engines, or related mechanical systems
• Experience and Certification in major generator brands (Generac, Cummins, etc.)
• Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude with attention to detail
• Proficiency with diagnostic tools, hand tools, and testing equipment
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and schematics
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently in the field
• Strong communication and customer service skills; ability to explain technical issues clearly to clients
• Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and reliable transportation
• Ability to work outdoors, lift equipment, and perform physical tasks associated with generator service
• Hourly pay: $30–$50 per hour
