Position: Full-Time Maintenance Technician (HVAC)

Overview

Atlanta Technical College (ATC) is seeking a maintenance technician (HVAC) for full-time employment in the Facilities and Operations Division. This position is located on ATC’s main campus, just south of downtown Atlanta. Under the general supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor, the technician is responsible for performing skilled and semi-skilled work related to the maintenance and repair of the college's facilities and grounds.

Responsibilities
  • Perform a wide variety of maintenance and repair work related to the installation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC equipment, boilers, building equipment, and furnishings.
  • Conduct daily rounds of critical equipment and rooms across the campus and report problems to the Maintenance Supervisor and/or Facilities Director.
  • Maintain all engineering and electrical spaces in a clean and neat manner.
  • Make daily checks and adjustments of thermostats, receiver controllers, controller sensors, automatic control panels, and other related equipment for proper operation.
  • Participate in the repair and maintenance of college equipment and vehicles.
  • Use and maintain a variety of tools, materials, and equipment.
  • Maintain required records and logs.
  • Assist in moves and event setups throughout the campus as assigned and directed.
  • Install, maintain, or repair electrical systems and associated hardware.
  • Install, maintain, repair, and renovate plumbing hardware.
  • Assist with carpentry projects.
  • Participate in grounds maintenance activities, including installing and maintaining landscaping and maintaining parking lots.
  • Coordinate the work of maintenance and custodial staff as directed by the supervisor.
  • Respond to emergency requests for repairs and perform other duties as assigned by the Facilities & Operations Leadership Team.
Competencies
  • Knowledge of tools, equipment, materials and practices of building and grounds maintenance.
  • Knowledge of safety policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of plumbing, electrical and HVAC system maintenance and repair.
  • Skills in the operation of computers and job-related software programs.
  • Skills in interpersonal relations and dealing with the public.
  • Oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to lift, push and carry heavy items.
  • Ability to read, interpret and apply construction plans, specifications and blueprints.
  • Decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Must possess and demonstrate a high school diploma or equivalent and one (1) year of related work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Two (2) or more years of experience as a Maintenance Technician.
  • HVAC license and/or certification.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.

May be required to work at other locations within the community.
