Position: Upfit Technician 2

About the Role:

As a Service Technician II, you will perform a variety of high-level activities related to truck bodies and trailers. Activities include, but are not limited to, diagnosing and repairing electrical and hydraulic issues, disassembling and reassembling truck body sections, body mounts, upfitting, and troubleshooting as needed.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent experience.
  • Advanced mechanical and 12V electrical skills with welding experience.
  • Experience in truck body or equipment manufacturing repair, with the ability to troubleshoot and problem-solve with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work off scaffolding up to ten to twelve feet.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Complete non-standard upfit jobs and service repairs, including problem-solving, fabrication, electrical/hydraulic troubleshooting, and creative solutions, while developing your skillset for growth.
  • Perform chassis prep (minor modifications), body mount repairs, electrical work, liftgate installation, and quality inspections, adhering to Wabash quality and EHS standards.
  • Follow all Wabash National WPO guidelines and obtain necessary certifications for the role.
  • Work effectively in a team environment.
  • Read work orders thoroughly, verify VINs, and ensure correct components and vehicles are used for each job.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
  • Capability to install liftgates of all makes and models.

Physical Demands:

  • Minimum of eight hours standing, bending, squatting, kneeling, pushing, and pulling, utilizing full body mechanics.
  • Work kneeling under trucks or vans.
  • Lift and carry up to 35 pounds regularly, and up to 55 pounds frequently.
  • Work at heights using ladders, stairs, platforms, and in tight spaces under trucks.
  • Operate power and hand tools, work with compressed air, operate forklifts, overhead cranes, and scissor lifts safely, and use PPE appropriately.
