Food Service Equipment Tech

Position at the Georgia Institute of Technology.

Responsible for maintaining, modifying, troubleshooting, and repairing a large inventory of electric, gas, and refrigeration commercial food service equipment and appliances. Interacts regularly with staff and vendors associated with Tech Dining and advises dining staff and other facilities personnel.

• Perform preventative maintenance on food service and refrigeration equipment as well as scheduled predictive maintenance checks following manufacturer recommendations or supervisor assignment.
• Carry out installations of new equipment.
• Perform repairs and maintenance duties on a wide variety of food service and refrigeration equipment such as walk‑in freezers, industrial‑sized steam cookers, refrigerators, ice machines, dishwashers, fryers, stoves, ovens, and grills.
• Carry out periodic inspection, cleaning, and equipment servicing.
• Interpret equipment manuals for proper training, care, and maintenance.
• Attend quickly to emergency calls on equipment repair issues, as well as after‑hour work calls.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

• High School Diploma/GED or Vocational School Diploma.
• Three to four years of job‑related experience.

• Current Serv Safe Certification.
• Three or more years of job‑related experience.

$17.98 - $24.45 per hour.

Requires basic knowledge of refrigeration equipment, commercial ovens, commercial dishwashers, and commercial ice machines. Ability to read instruction manuals for specialty equipment and apply instructions to equipment.
