Job SummaryPerform a variety of duties related to the protection of life and property. Assist with the prevention of crime, preservation of the public peace, response to service calls, and basic police services in accordance with Georgia Tech Police mission and in compliance with governing federal and state laws. This position will interact consistently with a supervisor, co‑workers, GT employees, students, and campus visitors and advise and counsel GT employees, students, and visitors.
Responsibilities- Engage in law enforcement patrol functions by foot, bike or other motorized equipment, physically checking doors and windows of buildings to ensure they are secure; conduct visual and audio surveillance.
- Assist police officers with an arrest, forcibly if necessary, using handcuffs and other restraints; subdue resisting suspects using maneuvers and non‑firearm weapons (hands, feet, approved weapons) in self‑defense.
- Prepare investigative and other reports, including sketches, using appropriate grammar, symbols, and mathematical computations.
- Perform rescue functions at accidents, emergencies, and disasters, including directing traffic for long periods, administering emergency medical aid, lifting, dragging and removing people from dangerous situations, and securing and evacuating persons from particular areas.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- High‑school diploma, GED certificate, or vocational school diploma
- Valid driver’s license or ability to obtain a valid driver’s license
- Up to three years of job‑related experience
Preferred Qualifications
- CPR and First Aid certifications
- Technical diploma, associate’s degree, or two years college coursework
Strong verbal and written communication skills; integrity, the ability to take action quickly, use independent and sound judgment; initiative in applying work methods; ability to prepare reports; physical capabilities including occasional lifting of more than 100 pounds and meeting visual and stamina requirements.

Job Grade A5. Recruiting range: $36,150.40 / $17.38 – $49,171.20 / $23.64 (based on experience).
