This position is responsible for the security of an outpatient location and/or acts as an active field training officer to provide support and maintain a secured environment for staff, physicians, patients, and visitors. The Senior Security Officer must have advanced knowledge of the security department operations and be able to operate independently to assist multiple areas and departments. Senior Officers assist Department Administration and on-site property managers in the management of patient property and investigation functions.
Senior Officers must be highly knowledgeable about departmental operations and training processes.
The Senior Security Officer provides ongoing field training services for newly hired security officers and/or performs security services for offsite Medical Center facilities and locations. This includes facilitating monthly meetings with newly hired employees to review progress and assess knowledge, skills and abilities, and continuing monthly meetings during the probationary period for one year with feedback to the employee’s manager.
Responsibilities- Provide public and patient safety functions including securing property by patrolling buildings and grounds, staffing fixed security posts, monitoring entrances and exits, monitoring cameras, and operating security and alarm systems.
- Respond to emergencies as part of regular duties and maintain required training and knowledge related to the properties secured.
- Lead after action incident debriefings with clinical staff and ensure affected employees have access to emotional support resources.
- Oversee and manage patient property and valuables; investigate patient property losses or thefts, medical center thefts, and employee accidents assigned to the Security Department for follow-up.
- Prepare complete and accurate reports with appropriate recommendations following investigations.
- Perform duties with limited supervision and adapt to work without well-defined procedures or instructions.
- Report Public Safety and Security concerns and perform other security department functions as necessary.
- High School diploma or GED. Certification or vocational training may be required. Associate degree in a relevant field may be preferred.
- 2 years of relevant experience required. 4-6 years of relevant experience preferred.
