Job DescriptionAECOM is seeking a Geologist II to be based in our Atlanta, Georgia office. This position will support our Remediation team within our Environment business line and is expected to begin immediately. The Geologist II will serve as a team member in the field and the office, assisting project and program management with implementation of soil, groundwater, sediment, and surface water investigative and remediation programs, data analysis, and report preparation.
Responsibilities- Utilizing various techniques to generate data from remedial or investigative field work, including but not limited to soil/groundwater/vapor sampling, soil boring/monitoring well installations with various drilling techniques (DPT, HSA, sonic, air rotary, mud‑rotary, etc.), operations and maintenance of remedial systems.
- Perform work in accordance with agreed‑upon budget and schedule under supervision.
- Develop knowledge of job‑specific federal, state, and local laws and regulations and assigned job specifications.
- Detect problems when using standardized procedures because of sample condition or equipment difficulties.
- Propose appropriate analytical methods and techniques, and assist in providing advice and consulting services within the scope of scientific knowledge.
- Interpret and record data, conduct analyses, and compare findings to relevant studies and local, state, and federal regulations.
- BA/BS in Geology or related field + 2 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
- Valid U.S. Driver’s License; must pass AECOM’s Motor Vehicle Records Review.
- Must pass a drug screening (condition of employment).
- Must pass a medical screening (condition of employment).
- Masters Degree in Geology or related field.
- 3+ years of experience performing and leading site investigations that included soil/groundwater/vapor sampling, soil boring/monitoring well installations with various drilling techniques, analytical data interpretation, and reporting.
- Experience sampling for PFAS (per‑ and polyfluoroalkyl substances) in soil and water in accordance with current USEPA sampling protocols.
- Experience with O&M and optimization of groundwater remediation systems.
- Experience working in State and Federal Programs.
- Prior Federal government security clearance is a plus.
- Professional Geologist license or in process of obtaining (GIT).
- Current OSHA 40‑hour Hazardous Waste Operations Training.
- Current OSHA 30‑Hour Construction Training.
- Proficient experience with ArcGIS and/or CAD.
- Familiarity with State and Federal Environmental Regulations.
- Sponsorship for U.S. employment authorization is not available now or in the future for this position.
- Relocation is not available for this position.
Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The range for this position is $60,000 to $70,000 per year.
