The Manager in Training assists the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager with overall operations and administrative duties, ensuring adherence to company policies and providing outstanding customer service. This role oversees daily store functions, assists with inventory, sales, merchandising, scheduling, and acts as a temporary store leader in absence of the Store Manager.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Assist the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager in controlling the assets of Hibbett.
- Consult with Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager in establishing an action plan to accomplish departmental and overall store responsibilities such as selling, restocking, merchandising, ordering, and scheduling.
- Assume responsibility of the entire store in the absence of the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager.
- Provide knowledge and guidance to employees and customers in all departments when necessary.
- Be aware of inventory, sales statistics, and expenses to ensure profitability in all departments.
- Direct staff to ensure each department's responsibilities and standards are completed.
- Keep the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager informed about inventory movement and customer trends.
- Assure quality customer service is maintained.
- Perform general administrative duties as needed and be trained in the Store Manager's responsibilities.
- Provide extraordinary customer service as highlighted in the customer service manual, including assisting customers at entry and during peak periods.
- Promote and sell services and merchandise provided by Hibbett.
- Practice and uphold Hibbett I City Gear policies, procedures, and standards as listed in company manuals and memos.
- Protect the company's assets and financial information by ensuring accurate and effective internal control procedures and notifying management of potential fraud risks.
Supervises employees in the absence of the Store Manager. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws, including interviewing, training, planning, assigning, directing work, and resolving problems.
Qualifications- Experience working in a retail environment, preferably in footwear and athletic apparel.
- 1-3 years of customer service experience.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.
- Ability to assist in managing a team and keep up with overall goals and profits.
- Self-starter with initiative to take on important tasks without being asked.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and with precision.
- Team-player passionate about outstanding customer service and selling merchandise.
