Position Overview
Position Overview
The QA Manager leads site-wide Quality Management Systems (QMS) for a chemical and materials manufacturing operation, ensuring robust process control, product integrity, regulatory compliance, and customer audit readiness. This role owns quality governance across chemical processing, raw material qualification, laboratory integration, contamination control, batch traceability, and customer-driven audit execution.
The QA Manager partners closely with Process Engineering, Production, EHS, Supply Chain, Laboratory, and Executive Leadership to ensure safe, compliant, and consistent production of high-purity battery electrolyte materials in a tightly controlled manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Management System (QMS)
- Own and continuously improve the site Quality Management System supporting chemical/materials manufacturing operations.
- Ensure compliance with applicable standards and customer requirements including:
- VDA 6.3
- ISO 9001
- IATF 16949 (as applicable to customer expectations)
- Develop and maintain SOPs, batch documentation, control plans, change management, deviation handling, and document control systems.
- Ensure audit readiness, regulatory alignment, and disciplined execution of quality processes.
Chemical Process & Laboratory Quality
- Establish and maintain robust batch traceability, raw material qualification, contamination control, and material genealogy systems.
- Integrate Quality Management with QC laboratory operations, analytical testing, calibration, sampling, and release processes.
- Partner with engineering and EHS to manage chemical risk, process stability, and material integrity.
Audit Management
- Lead internal audits and support external customer, registrar, and certification audits.
- Own audit preparation, findings management, corrective actions, and effectiveness verification.
- Maintain continuous compliance tracking and audit readiness culture.
Customer Quality & Structured Problem Solving
- Lead customer quality issue response, root cause analysis, and corrective / preventive actions in a regulated environment.
- Apply structured problem-solving methodologies including:
- 8D
- 5-Why
- Fishbone (Ishikawa)
- FMEA
- Control Plans
- Interface directly with OEM and Tier-1 customers on audit readiness and quality performance expectations.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across chemical processing, laboratory quality, and manufacturing operations.
- Analyze quality data, KPIs, trends, and process capability to identify systemic improvement opportunities.
- Build quality capability and discipline across production, engineering, and laboratory teams.
- Promote a strong quality culture emphasizing safety, compliance, documentation rigor, and operational excellence.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, Process Engineering, or closely related technical discipline.
- Minimum 8+ years of quality experience in chemical, materials, pharmaceutical, semiconductor, or process manufacturing environments.
- Hands-on ownership of Quality Management Systems in regulated manufacturing operations.
- Proven experience integrating quality systems with laboratory operations, analytical testing, batch manufacturing, and traceability.
- Strong working knowledge of VDA 6.3 and customer audit expectations.
- Demonstrated leadership of structured problem-solving and corrective action systems.
- Experience leading customer audits and regulatory inspections.
- Strong documentation, analytical, and stakeholder management skills.
- Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, safety-critical manufacturing environment.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States.
