Job DescriptionWSP is currently initiating a search for a Quality Assurance Specialist (QAS). The chosen candidate can sit in any of our offices in the USA. The Quality Assurance Specialist is responsible for the assessment and verification of compliance with quality assurance requirements. The QAS accomplishes these functions through engaging with project teams to determine quality assurance requirements/needs, performing surveillances, assessments, and readiness reviews, as appropriate, and reviewing and verifying applicable project documents and processes.
This role requires interaction with project staff, customers, and regulators. This is an entry level position into the NQA Group with the expectation that the candidate will grow into the position through a combination of training, mentoring, and on‑the‑job experience. The candidate will work under the WSP USA Nuclear Quality Assurance Program.
- Verify compliance with project quality assurance requirements
- Perform QA surveillances, assessments, and readiness reviews, as appropriate
- Review and verify that documents controlling project technical and quality activities, including procurement and corrective action documents, meet appropriate quality project and program requirements.
- Approve project Quality Assurance Project Documents (QAPDs) and project specific quality procedures
- Participate in the order entry process to review and identify quality‑related items/requirements and verify that customer‑specific quality and technical requirements are incorporated into the project
- Identify noncompliance and/or nonconformance issues and assist in processing them through the corrective action program
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of a four‑year professional or technical degree (in Quality, Engineering, or related Science)
- Professional registration or certification preferred
- Computer competency in Microsoft Office and Share Point
- Minimum of five years of professional experience with at least three years of experience working in a quality assurance role
- Two years of experience working on projects subject to nuclear quality assurance requirements
- Ability to achieve Lead Auditor certification
- Ability to foster a collaborative attitude with project staff while maintaining required independence of the NQAS oversight role
- Commitment to the principles and requirements of the WSP USA Nuclear Quality Assurance Program
- Ability to work independently while meeting schedule and project commitments
- Ability to understand and adhere to safety requirements
- Analytical, problem‑solving skills and systematic thinking
- Good personal interaction skills
- Good speaking, writing and presentation skills
- Good attention to detail
- Field visits and travel is required for this position
