Parasitology Lab Aide; Overnight Shift

Work Shift: 11pm-7:30am Monday - Friday with alternating Saturdays.

Target Pay: The Target Pay for this position is $16.78 per hour. Pay decisions are determined based on relevant job-related skills, experience, education, training and budget.

The Parasitology Laboratory Aide is responsible for the collection, processing and preparation of fecal samples.

• Collect fecal specimens, log them into the system, and prepare for setup.
• Meet all minimum department requirements for para loads and Fcombo set-up rates.
• Accurately build loads and label processing tubes.
• Split specimens for Giardia ELISA when required.
• Find missing specimens; print and reconcile queue lists.
• Maintain organization of storage refrigerator.
• Maintain all equipment including hoods and centrifuges.
• Maintain awareness of quality control and calibration.
• Crosstrain and develop knowledge of multiple specialties within the department/lab.
• Follow applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), including safety and quality procedures. Maintain a clean and organized work area and restock supplies as needed.
• Participate in improving lab efficiency, quality, and cooperation.
• Consult with senior peers on non-complex Parasitology tasks to learn through experience.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• High school diploma or equivalent

• Attention to detail and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Proficiency in English to participate in team meetings, accurately enter data into company systems, and understand written directions
• Positive, can-do attitude

• Stationary position; ability to remain in a stationary position for up to 2 hours
• Operate lab equipment accurately and efficiently
• Occasionally bend, kneel, stoop, or crouch
• Lift, move, and carry up to 20 lbs.
• Ability to observe details at close range
• Extended hours may be needed
• Laboratory environments with potential biohazards mitigated by PPE
• Receive general instructions on routine work and detailed instructions on new assignments
• Work under close to moderate supervision
• Potential exposure to agents known to cause zoonotic disease in humans and to hazardous chemicals as defined by NIOSH standards
