This position is responsible for the delivery and support of the Dive Immersion Programs, which includes, but are not limited to the SCUBA Dive, Swim, and Shark Cage Dive experiences. The Dive Master 1 ensures the programs run safely, efficiently, and provides an exceptional guest experience. They will provide in-water and top-side support for the Dive Immersion Programs and Zoological dives in accordance with Georgia Aquarium’s Dive safety standards and protocols.
The DM1 may work with Dive Immersion Leadership to enhance the guest experience. They will also be asked to support additional projects within Zoological Operations as needed.

Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
In addition, the daily physical requirements specific to the Dive Operation’s safety standards may include:
- Typing on a computer keyboard
- Ability to travel by car or boat as needed
- Ability to swim
- Ability to use SCUBA equipment
- Ability to maintain daily contact with a living collection of plants and animals
