• Hours: Must be able to work on weekends and holidays up to 4 hours a day.

The Research Laboratory Animal Veterinarian Technician will support HIV prevention studies by performing animal-related procedures to support DHP LB laboratory research on HIV treatment and prevention using nonhuman primate models.

• Perform animal services as specified in SOPs established by the CDC.
• Administer anesthesia and antiretroviral drugs on nonhuman primates on weekends and holidays up to 4 hours a day.
• Perform preparatory tasks related to drug administration.
• Handle post-procedure cleaning, sterilization, and maintenance of instruments and equipment.
• Properly process, handle, transport, store, and record procedures and observations.
• Maintain supplies and reagents needed for procedures.
• Enter data into relevant databases.
• Attend all required onsite contract and safety trainings.
• Submit weekly reports.

• 3+ years veterinary technician experience, with at least 1 year in a laboratory animal setting preferred.
• Ability to obtain/maintain vaccinations, physicals, and medical requirements.
• Preferred: AALAS Certified Laboratory Animal Technician (LAT) and/or licensed Veterinary Technician (RVT).
• Preferred:
  Experience with nonhuman primates.
