Summary Atlanta VA Medical Center is actively recruiting for a Nurse Practitioner located in Anesthesiology Acute Care at Atlanta, GA. This is an open continuous announcement. Responsibilities- The Anesthesiology Preoperative Clinic Nurse Practitioner (NP) is responsible for the care and administrative needs of the Anesthesiology Service Line and Anesthesiology Pain Division patients in the outpatient and inpatient setting.
- The NP also functions as a coordinator between the several surgical sections and their care teams (attending physician(s) - advanced practice providers (APPs) - fellows - residents) and the other team members to include Nursing, Social Work, and Rehabilitative Services.
- The NP will be directly responsible to the Perioperative Section Chief and attending(s) for all clinical and administrative duties.
- The NP is a licensed independent practitioner with advanced education and national certification who provides evidence-based care for a population of patients.
- Duties include but are not limited to: elicits patient history and performs appropriate physical examination; orders and interprets laboratory, radiographic and other diagnostic studies as appropriate; establishes appropriate treatment plan; determines need for intervention and physician intervention or consultation; prescribes routine formulary medications and supplies; non-formulary medications as per approval; assesses and manages chronic and acute illnesses; compliance with present therapy.
- May screen patients to determine the need for hospital admission and may admit patients when indicated; provides necessary patient and family education; monitors for complications of disease and therapy; provides coordination of care and collaborates with other health care providers as needed; may initiate and/or expedite requests for consultations, special tests or studies on assigned patients; may make rounds on assigned inpatients and write interim progress notes;
and may dictate interim and discharge summaries; maintains Basic Life Support certification and possibly Advanced Life Support certification if needed. - Exemplifies the ICARE core values of Integrity, Commitment, Advocacy, Respect, and Excellence.
- Licensed independent practitioner with advanced education and national certification to provide care for a patient population.
- Current, full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory.
- Ability to eloquently elicit patient history, perform physical examinations, order and interpret appropriate diagnostic studies, and establish treatment plans.
- Prescribes routine formulary medications and supplies; may administer non-formulary medications as approved.
- Maintain Basic Life Support certification and possibly Advanced Life Support certification if needed.
