Charge RN - Primary Care Center

Overview

The Charge Nurse reports to the Clinical Staff Manager and plans, directs, and evaluates the overall nursing care and functions in a nursing unit or during an assigned shift. Coordinates the activities of the unit, assigns work to the nursing staff, assesses and educates staff on patient care, and delegates and readjusts patient assignments. Works with the Clinical Staff Manager direction to enhance throughput, quality, and customer service in the area.

Institutes emergency procedures as necessary.

• Coordinate unit activities and lead nursing staff during assigned shifts.
• Assess, monitor, and educate nursing staff on patient care practices.
• Delegate and adjust patient assignments as needed to maintain safe and effective care.
• Improve throughput, quality, and customer service in the unit under direction from the Clinical Staff Manager.
• Institute emergency procedures when necessary.

• Required:
  
  Bachelor s Degree In Nursing (BSN) or equivalent education and experience.
• Preferred:
  Bachelor s Degree In Nursing (BSN).

• Required:
  
  If a Registered Nurse (RN) with a BSN, two (2) or more years direct patient care RN experience including in a charge role.
• If a Registered Nurse (RN) with an Associate s degree in Nursing (ASN), four (4) or more years direct patient care RN experience including in a charge role. Preferred: RN with a BSN, two (2) or more years direct patient care RN experience including in a charge role.

• Advance Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is required for the following areas with 90-days or employment or transfer:
  All Critical Care areas
• Emergency Care Center (ECC/ED) GI/Cath Laboratory
• Labor & Delivery
• All Intermediate Care areas Post Acute Care Unit (PACU)
