Medical ICU Unit Charge Registered Nurse / RN
Join Emory Healthcare as a Medical ICU Unit Charge Registered Nurse / RN. Position is full-time, 36-hour week, Emory University Hospital, 7a-7:30 shift.
OverviewPlans, coordinates, and directs daily operations of a specific shift on a clinical unit. Supervises staff, facilitates communication with physicians, and provides optimal patient and family-centered care.
Responsibilities- Mentor other Registered Nurses to the role and functions of Charge Nurse.
- Lead and coordinate team behavior between staff members and foster leadership skills.
- Provide direction and guidance to less experienced staff concerning policies, scheduling, assignments, organizational skills and daily operations.
- Complete performance reviews with Nurse Manager input as appropriate.
- Incorporate Synergy model for care in nurse/patient assignments.
- Evaluate the use of resources and cost containment activities.
- Coordinate unit staffing to meet the needs of the department.
- Actively participate in preparation of regulatory agency reviews.
- Assist in administrative activities such as budget planning and staffing schedules.
- Ensure compliance with policies and procedures, educational requirements, and evidence-based practice.
- Exhibit effective communication, conflict resolution, and advocacy skills.
- Implement quality improvement initiatives and innovative approaches to meet patient needs.
- Education:
Graduate of an accredited prelicensure Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). - Experience:
Minimum 2 years recent nursing experience and 2 years in area of concentration. - Licensure:
Valid, unencumbered Registered Nursing License approved by the Georgia Board of Nursing. - Certification: BLS required; ACLS may be required; additional certifications based on department and specialty; active compact/multistate license (eNLC) required within 60 days of hire.

Medium-Heavy lifting, 36-75 lbs during 0-33% of day; 20-35 lbs during 34-66%; 10-20 lbs during 67-100%. Lifting up to 75 lbs max; carrying objects up to 35 lbs. Occasional to frequent standing & walking. Physical demands may vary. Environmental exposures include blood-borne pathogens, biohazardous waste, communicable diseases, shift work, travel required, PPE.
