Responsibilities

Promote the mission, vision, and values of SCA.
Assess patient’s preoperative status at intervals according to facility policies.
Interpret data accurately from various monitors.
Describe the underlying pathophysiology of common disease processes.
Develop an individualized peri‑anesthesia plan of care, including:

Preparing for and protecting patient from injury.

Communicating the patient’s current status throughout the care continuum.

Managing patient’s fluid, pain, and comfort needs.

Administering medications safely using the 8‑rights.

Performing interventions to maintain wound integrity and tissue perfusion.

Performing interventions to maintain normothermia.

Providing nursing and appropriate monitoring in accordance with policies and procedures.

Managing patient’s co‑morbidity and other conditions.

Providing education regarding operative expectations and postoperative recovery.

Involving patient in decision‑making and rehabilitation.

Protecting patient’s rights, dignity, and privacy.

Complying with the Universal Protocol and facility policies.

Evaluate patient’s progress toward outcomes.

Transfer care as needed.

Provide accurate hand‑off reports.

Delegate tasks based on nursing practice act and state laws.

Document episode of care completely.

Demonstrate effective communication with the peri‑operative team.

Serve as a member of a multidisciplinary team in patient care planning.

Participate in quality review and improvement projects.

Participate in performance appraisal processes.

Use problem‑solving skills to foster effective relationships.

Maintain required competencies and pursue professional growth.

Act as a patient advocate and protect privacy.

Compliance with SCA and facility policies when providing care.

Actively participate in meetings, trainings, and daily safety huddles.

Demonstrate fiscal responsibility.

Perform all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
One year of ICU, ED, PACU, or medical/surgical nursing experience (preferred).
Current state licensure in good standing.
Basic Life Support (BLS) or Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification within 90 days of employment.
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification within 90 days of employment.
When pediatric care is within scope, Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification within 90 days of employment.
Specialty certification in perioperative or perianesthesia nursing is preferred.

Compensation

USD $28.61/hr – USD $50.82/hr.
