Education Level None## Description The Senior Major Giving Officer is responsible for the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of individual members of the Atlanta Humane Society (AHS) President’s Circle, directly managing the relationship with these high-net-worth donors and prospects who have the capacity to make transformative gifts of $10,000 or greater to AHS. Reporting to the Vice President of Major Giving, this position is responsible for maintaining a qualified portfolio, identifying and engaging prospects, soliciting contributions, and providing exceptional stewardship to deepen donor commitment.
The Senior Major Giving Officer also serves as a resource for planned giving inquiries and collaborates closely with colleagues across the philanthropy team to achieve organizational fundraising objectives.
** Duties & Responsibilities
*** Manage a portfolio of major gift ($10,000+) and planned giving prospects across Metro Atlanta and Georgia, ensuring personalized cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
· Personally engage and solicit major gifts through face-to-face meetings, tailored proposals, and strategic participation in fundraising events.
· Develop and present compelling cases for support that align donor interests with organizational priorities and impact.
· Implement individualized strategies to increase donor retention, renewals, and upgrades through thoughtful engagement plans.
· Stay informed on tax law changes, major and planned giving techniques by attending training sessions and professional events.
· Provide strategic oversight for the Legacy Circle program, including planning and input on donor recognition events.
· Collaborate with Finance to manage projections and forecasts to support accurate financial planning.
· Work closely with colleagues in Major Giving, Giving, Marketing, and Events to ensure a coordinated, donor-centered approach to engagement and fundraising.
· Partner with internal teams to design and deliver meaningful donor experiences, such as private tours, cultivation events, and recognition opportunities.
· Accurately record all donor interactions, proposals, and progress in Salesforce to support effective moves management and reporting.
· Maintain strict confidentiality and ensure accuracy of all donor records and documentation.## Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree preferred
* 5+ years of equivalent work experience
* Demonstrated ability to think strategically and craft messaging that moves prospects through the development cycle, resulting in significant and transformative gifts aligned with organizational priorities.
* Proven self-starter with a track record of meeting and exceeding defined metrics for solicitations, cultivation meetings, and overall fundraising goals.
* Ability to build relationships and engage confidently with high-net-worth individuals and philanthropic networks with professionalism and poise.
* Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions about donor strategy, working knowledge of data management practices, database systems, and reporting tools.
* Successful experience in cultivating and soliciting five- and six-figure gifts from individual donors.
* Comprehensive understanding of fundraising principles and the full gift cycle, including identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
* Familiarity with fundraising database systems; experience with Salesforce preferred.
* Exceptional oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
* Strong relationship-building skills and ability to articulate a compelling case for support that inspires donor investment.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
* Knowledge of animal welfare issues preferred.
* Highly motivated, self-reliant, and positive attitude with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Ability to travel throughout the Atlanta metropolitan area and work occasional evenings and weekends as needed.
