Who We AreThe Atlanta Community Food Bank is working to end hunger in our community with the food, people and big ideas needed so that no one worries where their next meal is coming from. Since 1979, we’ve been providing food for a growing network of nonprofit partners – including food pantries, community kitchens, childcare centers, night shelters and senior centers. We currently serve more than 700 partners in 29 counties across metro Atlanta and north Georgia.

AboutThe Role
The Director, Institutional Giving
, in partnership with the Chief Development Officer, leads the strategy and execution of a comprehensive fundraising program that includes corporate, foundation, government, civic, and special event revenue to support the mission of the Atlanta Community Food Bank. This position is responsible for achieving an annual multimillion-dollar revenue goal aligned with the organization’s strategic plan. In addition to leading institutional fundraising efforts, the Director oversees the Food Bank’s volunteer engagement strategy, ensuring that volunteer programs are effectively leveraged to support both financial and operational goals.
This individual provides leadership and oversight to a development team responsible for meeting both annual and long-term revenue goals, and works cross-departmentally to ensure alignment and impact.
Institutional Fund and Partnership Development
- Raise, and lead the Institutional Giving team to raise, more than $15M in annual operating support from corporations, foundations, government entities, civic organizations and special events through gifts, grants, sponsor ships and new forms of private philanthropy.
- Manage a personal portfolio of high-value corporate and foundation prospects and donors; cultivate and engage effectively with relevant corporate and foundation executives, program officers, board members and staff.
- Design and direct implementation of annual and multi-year revenue plans against ambitious goals.
- Create and monitor dashboards of KPIs for moves management and portfolio performance, revenue, donor file health and special event effectiveness
- Develop compelling cases for support, budgets and supporting materials, working with program staff and leadership
- Oversee and Prepare grant proposals and ensure timely reporting and compliance
- Partner with Finance and Program teams to track restricted funding
- Provide strategic direction to the Food Bank’s Volunteer Program to support financial and operational goals, ensuring best in class experience for more than 40,000 volunteers annually
- Serve on the Development leadership team and collaborate with colleagues to set annual and long-term fundraising strategy and plans for the department.
- Ensure accurate and consistent maintenance of donor records in Raiser’s Edge in accordance with organizational standards
- Partner with the Chief Development Officer to engage, steward, and leverage the Advisory Board in support of the Food Bank’s fundraising and special event goals
- Oversee committee management, including goal setting, budget management and agenda development
- Collaborate with the Development team to create and deliver presentations and materials for meetings and events
- Support the Events Team in the execution of the Food Bank’s hosted and third-party fundraising events
- Ensure appropriate safety, risk management, vendor selection, sponsorship fulfillment, and security planning
- Engage community host committees to achieve sponsorship goals, drive participation, and deliver compelling event experiences
- Evaluate the effectiveness and long-term sustainability of events; recommend future event fundraising opportunities
- Support the execution of internal Food Bank events
- Negotiate beneficiary and cause-marketing agreements with corporate and community partners, ensuring clear roles and responsibilities, brand alignment, and appropriate return on investment
