The Senior Development Specialist will lead public relations, event promotion, and fundraising initiatives within an assigned region. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with exceptional communication skills, a strong network of media and community contacts, and a proven track record in executing successful fundraising campaigns. This position is responsible for coordinating VIP (Victim Impact Panel) sessions where victims, survivors, and individuals affected by impaired driving crashes share their personal experiences to foster empathy, awareness, and behavioral change among offenders.

This is a hybrid position that does require the selected candidate to reside in the general Atlanta area. The salary for this position is $52,500.

Responsibilities
  • Plans, coordinates, and executes large-scale state events, such as walks and special fundraising events.
  • Promote MADD's events, fundraisers, and awareness campaigns through various media channels and community outreach efforts.
  • Identify and cultivate relationships with donors, corporate partners, and foundations to secure financial support.
  • Conduct prospect research to identify major donors and funding opportunities aligned with MADD's priorities.
  • Plan and execute fundraising events, donor cultivation events, and initiatives to expand the donor base in conjunction with area development goals.
  • Actively network through community organizations as appropriate to support fund development.
  • Represent MADD Mission Operations at donor meetings, networking events, and public speaking engagements.
  • Develop and nurture relationships with community leaders, potential donors, and key stakeholders to expand MADD's presence.
  • Schedule, coordinate and organize the implementation of MADD’s VIP (Victim Impact Panels) designed to support victims, promote MADD’s mission and educate the public regarding drunk driving related issues.
  • Recruiting and supporting speakers, managing program logistics, maintaining participant records, and collaborating with community partners, law enforcement, and judicial systems to promote attendance and compliance.
  • Establish, implement and/or maintain a volunteer management plan in accordance with and as outlined in MADD’s Volunteer Management Program to include development and implementation of sourcing and recruiting strategies utilizing community partnerships and affiliations. Interview, select and onboard volunteers in coordination with existing staff and volunteers.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in marketing, PR, community engagement, and fundraising.
  • Proven track record in development, partner cultivation, and public relations
  • Experience in planning and executing fundraising events and campaigns.
  • Excellent networking and relationship-building skills.
  • Some travel and flexible hours work necessary.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact confidently with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
  • Meticulous attention to detail in all aspects of work, ensuring accuracy and quality in documents, reports, and communications.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities, with a proactive mindset to address challenges and propose solutions.
  • A collaborative and adaptable team player who can work effectively within a diverse team and contribute positively to team dynamics.
  • Self‑starter with a willingness to take ownership of tasks and projects, demonstrating a proactive approach to responsibilities.
