THE ROLE
The Chief Advancement Officer (CAO) serves as the strategic architect and leader for global advancement efforts. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer and serving on the Executive Leadership Team, the CAO aligns all fundraising, marketing, and donor engagement strategies to advance the ministry’s mission and vision. This role ensures that every partner experiences a transformational giving journey while driving sustainable revenue growth across all donor levels.
- Strategic Leadership
- Shape organizational strategy as a member of the Executive Leadership Team, ensuring all advancement activities align with mission and ministry priorities.
- Build and sustain a culture of philanthropy across the organization.
- Lead, develop, and inspire a high‑performance advancement team through clear goals, metrics, and accountability.
- Drive major gift strategy while strengthening mid‑level and sustaining donor programs in alignment with the 2024–2027 Strategic Plan.
- Personally cultivate and manage a portfolio of major donors, securing significant philanthropic commitments.
- Develop innovative fundraising models to attract, retain, and upgrade donors; build a robust donor pipeline.
- Expand foundation outreach and grants management to secure new funding sources.
- Oversee the Ending Gospel Poverty Collective, deepening engagement among high‑capacity partners and gathering strategic feedback.
Transformational Giving & Stewardship
- Ensure consistent execution of the Transformational Giving Experience across all donor levels.
- Build donor‑centric stewardship pathways tailored to giving levels, interests, and engagement preferences.
- Implement effective wealth research processes to inform cultivation strategies and solicitation amounts.
Marketing, Communications & Advancement Operations
- Oversee marketing and communications to support fundraising through brand awareness, compelling cases for support, digital engagement, and donor communications.
- Guide the development of collateral, regional events, and digital campaigns that strengthen donor connection and ministry visibility.
- Reengineer advancement processes—including database systems—for efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
