Senior Communications Strategist & Storytelling Lead; Independent Contractor

What You’ll Do

• Lead integrated communications strategies aligned with client mission, audience, and moment
• Develop core messaging, narrative frameworks, positioning, and brand voice guidance
• Translate complex policy, public affairs, and social impact issues into clear, compelling stories
• Build media strategies, pitches, talking points, and executive briefing materials
• Support crisis communications planning and rapid-response messaging
• Design and execute campaigns across earned media, email, digital, and social channels
• Prepare leaders for media interviews, public remarks, and stakeholder engagements
• Oversee editorial content including op-eds, speeches, newsletters, and web copy
• Serve as a senior strategic partner to clients and collaborate closely with the Founder

• 8–12+ years of experience in strategic communications, public relations, journalism, public affairs, or related fields
• Experience working with public officials, government entities, nonprofits, or mission-driven organizations
• Strong background in media relations, crisis communications, and executive-level messaging
• Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills
• Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative collective
• Comfort operating in fast-paced, high-visibility, and politically or culturally nuanced environments
• Flexible engagement: project-based, monthly retainer, or campaign-specific
