Join to apply for the Automated Stamping Press Line Technician (Die Setup) role at Phoenix Stamping Group, LLC

Location: Atlanta, GA |
Reports to: Production Supervisor

What a day looks like

You clock in, review the schedule with your supervisor, and head straight to the automated press line. You load the correct part program, dial in press and feed‑line parameters, and verify the die setup with a first‑piece check before the run. Throughout the shift, you watch system indicators, listen for changes in the line, and keep quality and safety front and center.

When a punch chips or a section needs attention, you step in—swapping components, making shims for blank and form dies, or writing a work order to send the tool to triage or the die shop. You keep die racks and mounting plates organized, move coils and parts with a forklift or overhead crane, and record production counts and labor accurately. You also audit the line for adherence to standard work and process control plans, help cross‑train teammates, and champion Quick & Easy Kaizen ideas to cut scrap and improve flow.

Core

responsibilities
  • Set up, change over, and run automated stamping lines per production specs and standard procedures.
  • Program press/feed line parameters and confirm proper operation through checks of process indicators.
  • Perform pre‑run quality verifications and first‑article approvals in line with company procedures.
  • Issue work orders for dies requiring triage or repair; perform in‑press or shop repairs to punches/sections.
  • Fabricate and maintain shims; sustain orderly die racks and mounting plates.
  • Inspect parts for defects; use fixtures, templates, and measuring tools to validate to blueprint requirements.
  • Accurately report production quantities and labor; maintain all production logs and documents.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical issues; identify root causes of errors and nonconformances.
  • Align daily activities with the production schedule, customer demand, and inventory targets.
  • Ensure teammates have the right tools, materials, and equipment to execute assigned work.
  • Monitor line operations for safety and quality compliance; audit against standard work and control plans.
  • Audit other operators’ production entries when supervision is unavailable.
  • Assist with cross‑training and skill development across the department.
  • Review unplanned scrap with the team and supervision; implement effective countermeasures.
  • Lead Quick & Easy Kaizen efforts to drive product and process improvements.
  • Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and overhead cranes to move material and parts.
  • Lift up to 50 lbs; perform additional tasks as assigned; follow OSHA and internal safety standards.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent experience.
  • Proficient with standard shop hand tools and measuring instruments.
  • Strong, reliable attendance.
  • Experience operating metal stamping presses preferred; 2–5 years in a similar role ideal.
  • Solid shop math skills.
  • Ability to read blueprints/schematics and engineering drawings.
  • Capable of basic equipment maintenance.
  • Able to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
  • Sound judgment for administrative/procedural decisions; effective team contributor.
