This role is responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining IT, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and piping systems, as well as related equipment, machinery, and controls located both inside and outside the facility. The position involves monitoring systems, conducting regular assessments, and ensuring optimal performance of building operations. Duties include performing tests, inspections, and data analysis to confirm equipment is functioning correctly.
In addition, this position provides on-site customer support within the data center, assists with equipment installations, manages service requests through a ticketing system, and escalates technical issues to engineering staff as needed. Tasks may involve working with computer hardware, software, and operating systems. This role is fully on-site and supports a 24/7/365 operational environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Apply technical knowledge and company procedures to tasks involving IT, electrical, and mechanical systems.
- Conduct preventive maintenance on critical equipment; document and adjust systems to maintain performance.
- Provide “remote hands” services to assist customer operations.
- Perform basic to advanced hardware and software setup; install cabinets, cabling, fiber trays, cage material, and other infrastructure per documentation and operational standards.
- Carry out repairs to IT, electrical, and mechanical equipment; assist with larger maintenance projects as needed.
- Manage work orders for preventive and corrective maintenance, including ordering tools and supplies when required.
- Create and update service tickets for customer requests, facility alerts, or system issues.
- Operate and monitor critical and non-critical systems to ensure safe and compliant operation.
- Respond promptly to operational emergencies and customer needs.
- Follow safety protocols for handling and disposing of hazardous materials.
- Adhere to change management procedures when performing maintenance, ensuring proper documentation.
Basic Qualifications
- Two or more years of technical or military training, or equivalent work experience
- Background in IT, electrical, or mechanical systems
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
Preferred Qualifications
- One or more years of experience in a data center, network operations center, or related environment
- Industry certifications such as A+, Network+, BICSI Installer I, or relevant manufacturer training

- Strong customer focus and interpersonal skills; able to work with individuals at all levels
- Ability to diagnose system problems and implement corrective solutions
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Team-oriented mindset with the ability to work collaboratively
- Proficiency in common office and web-based software
- Capable of learning and applying new technical skills within defined guidelines
- Physically able to perform job duties, including lifting 10–50 lbs., standing, walking, and handling equipment
