The Strategic Projects Director – Energy Infrastructure is responsible for the overall execution of a mega project or multiple complex projects with a key customer involving Heavy Duty Gas Turbines. This role ensures customer satisfaction by managing all project-related activities, resources, and is accountable from contract signing through the completion of GE Vernova’s contractual obligations.
Responsibilities- Manage a megadeal project or multiple complex projects for a key customer(s), as defined by the Senior Leadership Team.
- Serve as the first and primary customer contact, owning the entire relationship and representing GE Vernova professionally in all interactions.
- Develop and implement a Project Execution Strategy from initiation through warranty in collaboration with the ITO Commercial Manager, ensuring successful project transition.
- Own full P&L responsibility for assigned project(s), including financial performance and risk management.
- Lead and inspire project teams, empowering functional leaders, setting clear priorities, and maintaining project morale.
- Support functional project managers in escalation processes within the project, across functions, and with customers and partners.
- Manage multiple stakeholders (partners, contractors, customers) to ensure project completion within contractual obligations.
- Develop and maintain a project risk register, proactively identifying risks and implementing mitigation actions and elevating issues in a timely manner through daily management routines.
- Align the project team in situations of conflicting requirements (e.g., cost vs. schedule, cost vs. risk).
- Understand and drive ownership of key performance targets (Revenue, Contribution Margin, Cash) among the project team.
- Anticipate performance risks early, partnering with the Performance Engineering Team to develop mitigation strategies.
- Ensure all EHS obligations are met for the project(s) as per contractual requirements.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers and leaders within customer organizations, including C‑suite executives.
- Balance GEV’s interests with the customer’s legitimate expectations regarding contractual scope, using tact and appropriate communication filters.
- Take full accountability for project outcomes, rebounding from setbacks and focusing on solutions.
- Coach and mentor the project team, fostering development and recognizing achievements to drive high performance.
- Bachelor's Degree
- At least 10 years experience as a Project Manager or Director in the Power Generation industry.
- Understanding of large-scale capital project costs and estimates, big and complex projects within Power Generation.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and to work independently with minimal direction required.
- Significant Project, Construction, Field Engineering and/or Contract Management experience in power industry.
- Experience in a customer facing role working through negotiations and solving issues.
- Ability to work effectively in a matrix environment, influence and motivate diverse teams to achieve a unified goal.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) with a passion and knowledge of "lean" standard work implementation in a project’s organization.
- Strong Portfolio Experience; strategic thinking and problem solving; ensuring delivering same for each project, set strategy, project managers are cohesively managing similar way.
- Strong people management, team building, performance management, strategic and operations planning, process management, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
- Demonstrated presentation skills and ability to succinctly communicate complex messages results.
