MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS- High School Diploma or GED required, supplemented by vocational or technical training in custodial or building maintenance, HVAC, plumbing or electrical, or a related field;
- Supplemented by three years of experience in HVAC, plumbing or electrical, or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia Driver's License.
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS OR ABILITIESMust be able to demonstrate proficiency in the performance of the essential functions and learn, comprehend, and apply all county or departmental policies, practices, and procedures necessary to function effectively in the position.
EXAMINATIONThe examination will consist of an evaluation of education and experience, accomplished by an analysis of the application. The application must document that the applicant possesses the minimum knowledge, skills, education, and experience listed to be rated as qualified. If selected, an official, accredited college transcript is required, at the time of employment, for all degrees/coursework used to qualify for this position.

PURPOSE OF CLASSIFICATIONThe purpose of this classification is to perform operational building maintenance activities in multiple locations around Fulton County in a variety of disciplines.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS- Performs preventive maintenance and repair work on buildings and systems, repairs heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems and plumbing fixtures; replaces floor and ceiling tiles, defective parts, fluorescent bulbs, and filters; collects lint from dryers; paints walls, doors, and ceilings; and performs other minor repairs.
- Identifies and requests supplies needed for tasks, such as air filters, controls, and gas valves.
- Inspects buildings to ensure that they are clean and debris-free, and maintenance repairs are completed.
- Monitors temperature of chilled water and computerized controls to ensure a comfortable work environment and makes adjustments as needed.
- Makes recommendations regarding equipment replacement.
Assists other technicians or contractors that may be needed to perform more experienced and/or specific tasks.

- Equipment, Machinery, Tools, and Materials Utilization: Requires the ability to operate, maneuver and/or control the actions of equipment, machinery, tools, and/or materials used in performing essential functions.
- Verbal Aptitude: Requires the ability to utilize a wide variety of reference data and information.
- Mathematical Aptitude: Requires the ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division; the ability to calculate decimals and percentages; the ability to utilize principles of fractions; and the ability to interpret graphs.
- Functional Reasoning: Requires the ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagrammatic form. Involves semi-routine standardized work with some latitude for independent judgment concerning choices of action.
- Situational Reasoning: Requires the ability to exercise judgment, decisiveness and creativity in situations involving a variety of generally pre-defined duties which are often characterized by frequent change.
