Job Summary

Serve as a lead capacity in performing general and specialized landscape and grounds maintenance activities to include plantings, chemical applications and equipment maintenance. This position will interact on a consistent basis with supervisor and coworkers. This position typically will advise and counsel grounds keeping personnel. This position will supervise: NA.

Responsibilities
  • Lead in and perform maintenance of trees, shrubs, ground covers and flower beds.
  • Transport equipment and personnel via motor vehicle to and from job sites.
  • Provide instructions to landscaping crews as required.
  • Lead in and perform lawn maintenance activities.
  • Keeps landscape and grounds free of debris, trash, branches and leaves, remove ice, empty trash receptacles, clean storm drains and ash urns.
  • Apply chemicals to maintain the Institute's lawn, trees, shrubs, ground cover, and flowers.
  • Perform routine maintenance of equipment.
  • Complete daily grounds maintenance reports.
  • Train new employees in grounds keeping duties; promote safe working practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Educational Requirements

High school diploma, GED Certificate or Vocational School Diploma

Required Experience

Three to four years of job related experience

Skills

Working knowledge of grounds maintenance processes and practices including operation and maintenance of related equipment, use of radio communications equipment and operation of a motor vehicle. Skills in providing work direction, work-related training and leadership are required.
