The Building Engineer supports the operation and maintenance of building systems in commercial office properties, bringing 2–4 years of hands‑on experience to the role. This position is ideal for engineers who have moved beyond entry‑level responsibilities and are ready to take on more complex tasks with guidance from senior staff. The engineer will perform preventative maintenance, assist with troubleshooting, and contribute to the safe, efficient operation of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.

While still growing in technical expertise, the role emphasizes reliability, teamwork, and a commitment to learning within a high‑performing property management environment.

Job Duties
  • Perform advanced maintenance and repair of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems across large commercial office buildings.
  • Lead troubleshooting and corrective action for complex issues in building automation systems, chillers, boilers, and life safety equipment.
  • Oversee and coordinate preventative maintenance schedules, ensuring compliance with operational standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide guidance and training to junior engineers, fostering a culture of safety, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
  • Extensive hands‑on experience in commercial office buildings, with strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
  • Technical certifications such as EPA Universal, HVAC, or electrical license preferred; advanced trade school or equivalent experience required.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently diagnose and repair complex building system issues, including automation and energy management systems.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to mentor junior staff and collaborate effectively with property management teams.
