This strategic planning role partners closely with Sales, Operations, Procurement, and Supply Chain teams to ensure optimal product availability while aligning demand with production capacity. The role owns demand planning, inventory strategy, and S&OP execution, driving data-backed decision making and continuous improvement across planning processes.
Key Responsibilities Demand Planning & Forecasting- Lead monthly and annual forecasting processes for finished goods, incorporating sales history, market trends, and capacity constraints.
- Prepare and present monthly production, inventory, and sales recaps to Sales, Marketing, and Operations leadership.
- Own short- and mid-term demand projections (30/60/90-day forecasts) and respond quickly to changes in market demand.
- Partner with Sales and Supply Chain leadership to identify risks, opportunities, and demand shifts.
- Support forecasting for large bids, new opportunities, and major raw material suppliers.
- Develop and refine forecasting KPIs and performance metrics.
- Facilitate the monthly S&OP cycle and evaluate forecast accuracy and planning effectiveness.
- Monitor finished goods and raw material inventory levels to ensure optimal availability while minimizing excess and obsolescence.
- Oversee inventory consolidation, shipment prioritization, and disposition activities to reduce write-offs and avoid penalties.
- Collaborate with manufacturing facilities to manage discontinued products in a fiscally responsible manner.
- Work with plant schedulers to standardize planning best practices and maintain accurate production schedules.
- Support manufacturing teams with updated plans in response to demand changes, equipment downtime, or material delays.
- Track and report production KPIs such as schedule adherence and on-time completion, driving corrective actions as needed.
- Lead and develop inventory and forecasting support staff, including maintaining safety stock targets and planning accuracy.
- Mentor team members in inventory management, forecasting, and data analysis best practices.
- Ensure safety stock levels are monitored, documented, and reported on a regular cadence.
- Partner with Sales, Customer Service, Operations, Procurement, and Logistics to support on-time delivery and material flow.
- Collaborate with IT and Supply Chain leadership to enhance planning tools, reporting, and automation.
- Support cost, margin, and pricing reviews for vendor-supplied products.
- Assist Supply Chain leadership with ad hoc analysis, long-term forecasting, and capacity planning initiatives.
- Provide backup support for planning and inventory activities during team absences.
- Bachelor’s degree required;
Master’s degree preferred (Supply Chain, Operations, Business Analytics, or related field). - 8+ years of experience in supply chain planning, demand planning, inventory management, or manufacturing operations.
- Strong experience with S&OP / SIOP processes.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel; experience with ERP and planning tools required.
- Comfortable presenting insights and recommendations to leadership.
- Highly organized, analytical, and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
