Associate Attorney – Criminal Defense | The Adams Firm LLC
The Adams Firm LLC is a fast-growing criminal defense and personal injury firm serving Metro Atlanta. We provide aggressive, strategic advocacy for clients facing the full range of misdemeanor and felony charges—including drug offenses, DUI and traffic offenses, sex crimes, assault and battery, homicide, domestic violence, and property crimes. We prioritize meticulous preparation, clear communication, and fearless representation.
We are seeking an experienced litigation attorney to join our criminal defense team. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, takes ownership of their cases, and brings meaningful courtroom experience beyond DUI work.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct client interviews, intake assessments, and strategy sessions across all criminal case types
- Provide legal counsel and representation in misdemeanors, felonies, and DUI matters
- Conduct legal research and draft motions, briefs, pleadings, and constitutional challenges
- Analyze discovery, including police reports, lab results, witness statements, and forensic evidence
- Negotiate plea agreements and prepare cases for hearings, motions, and trial
- Appear in court for arraignments, hearings, negotiations, and trials
- Collaborate with investigators, experts, paralegals, and staff
- Participate in firm meetings, case reviews, and process-improvement discussions
- Maintain accurate case files, deadlines, and documentation in My Case
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
- Admission to practice in Georgia and in good standing
- Minimum 3+ years of litigation experience in criminal defense or prosecution
- Strong advocacy skills with proven hearing or trial experience
- Proficiency in discovery review, evidence analysis, and motion practice
- Excellent legal writing, research, and analytical abilities
- Professional communication skills and strong client-management abilities
- Ability to manage multiple cases independently with strong attention to detail
- Proficiency with legal technology;
MyCase experience preferred
- Extensive courtroom experience as a public defender or prosecutor
- Demonstrated experience handling a high-volume misdemeanor and felony docket (non-DUI)
- Background in violent crimes, sex crimes, drug offenses, and property crimes
- Experience with suppression motions, Fourth Amendment challenges, and evidentiary hearings
- Ability to conduct jury trials, bench trials, or complex motion hearings
- Background in DUI defense, including breath/blood testing procedures
- Strong familiarity with Metro Atlanta courts, judges, and prosecutors
- Comfortable working in a collaborative and client-focused environment
