LG Chem is currently seeking an Associate General Counsel - Corporate & Commercial (Americas) to join our team in Atlanta, GA. Under supervision of the Chief Legal Counsel, Americas, the AGC, Americas, will provide legal support for operations of the Company in the Americas region (including subsidiaries in the United States, Mexico, Brazil, & Columbia), by serving as a senior legal partner to business leaders across the Americas region.
This role provides pragmatic, business-focused legal advice across a broad range of matters – including commercial transactions, corporate governance, litigation management, and regulatory compliance. The AGC, Americas, will manage outside counsel, support cross-functional initiatives and contribute to the further development and continuous improvement of legal operations for the company. This position is based in our corporate office in the Buckhead area of Atlanta, GA, and is not remote.
You’ll Be Doing
Essential Functions (include but are not limited to):
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strategic Counsel and Risk Management- Serve as trusted advisor to regional leadership; translate legal risk into actionable, business-oriented guidance.
- Proactively identify and mitigate legal, regulatory and contractual risks and build scalable guardrails, playbooks and templates.
- Actively engages with internal clients from various business units, including Sales, Finance, Compliance, Human Resources, among others, to provide counsel and advice on complex legal issues and risk mitigation.
- Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a broad range of commercial agreements – including supply agreements, NDAs, service provider agreements, logistics agreements, among others.
- Develops and oversees support of corporate governance structure for regional entities, including board / shareholder approvals, policy development and implementation, secretary functions and intercompany agreements.
- Responsible for leading legal support on major projects in furtherance of the company’s broader goals and initiatives, including real estate, construction, and other various components.
- Communicates and trains employees on contract templates, required / preferred language and provisions and contract development.
- Advise on and operationalize compliance programs related to anti‑corruption, antitrust/competition, trade controls (sanctions/export controls), data privacy, and others.
- Partner with Compliance to implement training, policies, investigations, and monitoring frameworks; coordinate regulatory inquiries or audits.
- Oversee all litigation and pre-litigation matters in the Americas.
- Manage outside counsel relationships, budgets, and strategy for litigation and arbitration; ensure alignment with business objectives and cost efficiency.
- Develop and maintain litigation protocols, eDiscovery processes, and document retention policies.
- Provide regular reporting on litigation risk, trends, and outcomes to senior leadership.

Qualifications:
Juris Doctor degree from a top-tier, ABA-accredited law school required and member in good standing of a state bar.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 8-12+ years of legal experience, including at a large law firm or comparable in-house corporate legal environment with a focus on commercial, corporate or transactional matters.
- Excellent organizational, legal, analytical and communication skills.
- Ability to analyze and explain complex legal risks and mitigation strategies.
- Ability to work independently and handle multiple priorities.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate and work in a team environment.
Preferred Qualification/What We’d Like to See:
- Fluency in Spanish, Portuguese or Korean language is a plus (but not required).
- Excellent user knowledge of MS Office programs (Excel, PPT, Word).
- Experience working in international and multi-cultural environment.
