Pay RangeBase pay range: $68,000/yr – $176,000/yr
DescriptionDiscover a rewarding opportunity to join the growing Wholesale team at Liberty Mutual. The role focuses on underwriting business for Financial Lines products, including D&O, EPL, Fiduciary, and Crime insurance for Commercial Public, Private, and Not‑For‑Profit organizations. The position is targeted at markets in the Southeast, and you are expected to have existing relationships within that territory.
Responsibilities- Manages a portfolio of brokers/agents and clients.
- Leverages market presence and knowledge to develop and underwrite profitable business, acting as a representative for Liberty for both renewal and new business accounts.
- Maintains a strong market presence, including established relationships with agents and brokers, and works to strengthen and expand those relationships.
- Contributes ideas for product development and participates in the execution of team projects, such as process or tool improvement.
- Understands the work implications of relevant legislation and regulation.
- Collaborates effectively across teams, stakeholders, and partners (e.g., Underwriting Support, Claims, Actuarial, Directors of Underwriting in GRS North America).
- Mentors junior underwriters and new hires (not as a line manager).
- May analyze the department’s portfolio and make suggestions for development.
- May recognize and communicate emerging trends of exposures within line of business expertise. >
- Degree in Business or equivalent (typically required).
- Minimum of 2.5 years, typically 3 or more years, of progressive underwriting experience and/or related experience.
- CPCU or professional insurance designation preferred.
- Proven analytical ability to evaluate and judge underwriting risks within scope of responsibility, using qualitative and quantitative tools and techniques.
- Must demonstrate comprehension of complex technical underwriting issues and be capable of defining and implementing necessary underwriting and administrative processes/workflows.
- Proven track record of developing and underwriting profitable business.

Pay PhilosophyThe typical starting salary range for this role is determined by skills, experience, education, certifications, and location. The full salary range reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual may include a commission and/or bonus earnings based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.
