Binergy Scientific is a growing defense contractor providing mission‑critical solutions to federal and Department of Defense (DoD) clients and a top innovator in the field of electrochemistry, energy storage, material science and sensors with primary focus on defense applications. We develop cutting‑edge electrochemical power sources, thermal components, innovative materials, biosensors, and devices for emerging defense applications, munitions, hypersonic vehicles, and other systems.
Our work focus ranges from development of initial concepts, laboratory demonstration, and fieldable prototypes covering TRL 1 to 7.
As we strengthen our cybersecurity posture and prepare for Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) Level 2, we’re seeking a motivated and detail‑oriented student to join our team.
Position OverviewAs a Cybersecurity Intern focused on CMMC Level 2 compliance, you’ll work alongside experienced cybersecurity professionals to help ensure our systems, processes, and documentation meet DoD cybersecurity requirements. You’ll gain hands‑on experience with Windows Server environments
, NIST 800-171 controls, and CMMC compliance frameworks, all within a real defense industry setting.
- Support the assessment and documentation of security controls aligned with CMMC Level 2 and NIST SP 800-171 requirements.
- Assist in preparing and maintaining compliance artifacts (policies, procedures, SSPs, POA&Ms).
- Participate in internal audits, gap analyses, and security readiness reviews.
- Help manage and secure Windows Server systems, including updates, patching, and configuration.
- Research evolving DoD cybersecurity standards and contribute to compliance improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with IT, security, and program management teams to strengthen overall cyber hygiene.
Skills & Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Basic understanding of cybersecurity frameworks (especially NIST 800‑171 and CMMC).
- Strong organizational and documentation skills.
- U.S. Citizenship (required for defense industry work).
- Exposure to compliance, auditing, or security frameworks.
- Experience with Power Shell, vulnerability scanning tools, or system logging.
- Coursework or lab work involving network security or system hardening.
- Familiarity with Windows Server management (Active Directory, Group Policy, user roles).
- Hands‑on experience with real defense cybersecurity compliance initiatives.
- Mentorship from DoD-experienced cybersecurity professionals.
