The Georgia Dept. of Transportation (GDOT) is seeking an experienced IT Manager β Process & Governance Oversight to lead IT governance, compliance, and project intake oversight functions. This role ensures that all IT project requests align with enterprise governance frameworks, security standards, regulatory requirements, and internal policies.
The ideal candidate brings strong experience in Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC), IT policy management, SDLC processes, and cross-functional stakeholder facilitation.
Key Responsibilities Governance & Compliance Facilitation- Develop, review, and maintain IT policies and procedures ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Support IT governance committees by preparing materials, documenting minutes, and tracking action items.
- Collect and analyze IT quality metrics to support data-driven decisions.
- Ensure project compliance with governance frameworks, enterprise architecture standards, and technology policies.
- Facilitate training and communication related to IT compliance requirements.
- Escalate and document suspected policy violations per GDOT procedures.
- Prepare project intake packages including funding justification, risk assessments, and compliance documentation.
- Review and assess project submissions for completeness, feasibility, and strategic alignment.
- Collaborate with enterprise architects and technical teams to validate technology choices.
- Analyze customer requirements and recommend solutions.
- Present projects to governance boards for prioritization and approval.
- Serve as liaison between business units and IT.
- Facilitate scope clarification meetings with stakeholders.
- Act as primary IT contact for reviewing project and technology proposals.
- Communicate project updates, risks, and changes to leadership.
- Build and maintain effective cross-departmental relationships.
- Improve project intake and governance processes.
- Develop templates, guidelines, and training materials.
- Draft new policies and procedural guidance.
- Identify innovative approaches to enhance IT solution delivery.
- Associateβs Degree in IT, Operations Management, Business Administration, Communications, or related field.
- 3β5+ years of experience in Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC).
- Strong understanding of:
- IT Governance Frameworks
- SDLC (Software Development Lifecycle)
- Regulatory compliance (data privacy, cybersecurity standards)
- Experience analyzing compliance documentation against applicable statutes and regulations.
- Strong leadership, communication, and facilitation skills.
- Ability to coordinate across multiple teams and manage competing priorities.
- Excellent organizational and documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Public sector or regulated industry experience.
- Experience with regulatory standards such as NIST, HITRUST, NDAA.
- Project management experience.
- Contract negotiation experience.
- Experience leading cross-functional teams.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
