General Description and Classification Standards:

Defines, designs and implements network communications and solutions.

Supervision Received:

This is a fully seasoned professional level (senior level) capable of carrying out most assignments typical of the profession with limited guidance or review.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

These are typical responsibilities for this position and should not be construed as exclusive or all inclusive.

  • Installs, integrates, and maintains, the security system and supports new and existing corporate Widows Server.
  • Oversees both on-premise datacenters and virtual datacenters within various cloud platforms.
  • Manages single resource and multi-resource internal team projects.
  • Designs, plans and manages deployment of new and multi-specialty technologies.
  • Plans, designs and implements an Active Directory migration.
  • Monitors and administers appropriate systems to ensure systems and services availability, peak performance, and modifications to existing environments are effective and efficient.
  • Provides assessment, costing, design, planning and management of new projects and processes.
  • Documents all systems procedures, systems practices, job responsibilities and job processes.
  • Administers and provides technical support for various system and network software packages including electronic mail, databases, file services, print services, anti-virus, backup, monitoring, etc.
  • Configures backup solutions to protect data and applications and tests the restore process to ensure data can be recovered in case of a failure.
  • Implements enhancements to servers to improve performance and reliability.
  • Develops a disaster recovery plan.
  • Makes purchasing or resource allocation decisions within organization guidelines as required.
  • Recommends, schedules, and performs software and hardware improvements, upgrades, patches, reconfigurations, and/or purchases.
  • Applies organizational policies; interprets organizational policies and recommend exceptions as needed.
  • Establishes work methods, timetables, performance standards, etc.
  • Provides work group leadership, guidance, and/or training to less experienced staff.
  • Serves as a technical resource or mentor to other employees.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education and Experience – Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Engineering (equivalent professional experience may be considered for substitution for the required degree on an exception basis); and five (5) years of specific network experience.

Licensures and Certifications – None.

Preferred Requirements – Master’s Degree in Computer Science or Engineering (equivalent professional experience may be considered for substitution for the degree on an exception basis) with five (5) – eight (8) years of experience that is directly related professional work.
