The Role

Operative responsibility in incident, problem and configuration management for various systems in office and manufacturing environments. Supports the Manager IT Technology & Services in defining, documenting, supporting and validating processes necessary to maintain a large, dynamic network architecture. Drives the life cycle of equipment and software to assure the network platform for data storage and delivery is reliably deployed, maintained, and operational during all hours.

Develops monitoring solutions and reports key performance indicators to assure data network availability, and coordinates with third parties to resolve equipment issues.

Responsibilities
  • Operative responsibility in incident and problem management for all items impacting plant operations.
  • Create and maintain technology architecture documentation for transparency.
  • Develop application and hardware (system) lifecycle plans.
  • Work with ITP management to create multiyear lifecycle plans for support levels, including milestones for firmware/software versions, upgrades and sunset/or successor systems.
  • Assess and manage system requirements and production program fulfillment.
  • Determine current performance levels and risks, and collaborate with business area to plan continuous improvement of processes and systems.
  • Identify automated solutions that support business process maturity or improvement.
  • Define maintenance plans for firmware/software upgrades.
Work Schedule
  • Requires onsite availability in Chattanooga, TN.
  • Nights and weekends required.
  • Work hour flexibility required based on production schedule.
  • Additional overtime required to support system updates and upgrades.
Qualifications Education
  • Associate degree in related IT discipline.
  • Bachelor’s degree in related IT discipline, preferred.
Experience
  • 3–5 years of professional experience in related field.
  • Basic server architecture experience; advanced server architecture experience, preferred.
Certifications
  • Network+, CCNA, MCP required.
  • CCNP, MCSA, VMware VCA, preferred.
Skills
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Can work under pressure and multitask.
  • Clear and concise documentation skills.
  • Client‑focused engagement with internal departments or customers.
  • Strong technical skills and teamwork.

  • OSI Model
  • TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLAN
  • Routing protocols: OSPF
  • Cisco 3850, 3650, 2960
  • Wireless network fundamentals
  • Configuration management
  • Network monitoring
  • Network cabling technologies (testers, patch cables)
  • Fundamental understanding of server technology (physical and virtual)
Specialized Skills – Preferred
  • Cisco Nexus family (7K, 5K, 2K)
  • Routing protocols: BGP
  • MPLS, VPC, VDC, VRF, 802.1x, Cisco ISE
  • Firewalls (Palo Alto)
  • Wireless network troubleshooting and configuration
  • Change management processes (patching, upgrades)
  • Scripting automation (Python)
Travel

Percentage of required travel: up to 10%

Physical Requirements
  • Office environment; use of standard office equipment.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
  • Must walk, talk, hear, sit, stand, climb stairs occasionally; prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must work effectively in an open office/noisy environment.
  • Must sit for prolonged periods while traveling in a car or airplane.
