IT Project Manager, Systems Engineer

Specific Duties
The Office Head of IT Infrastructure is a critical member of the Chief Information Officer’s (CIO’s) team. This position is a leadership role and is an empowered representative of the CIO for the Georgia Department of Transportation. This position requires an individual with a strong technical background, as well as an ability to work across the agency to align priorities and plans with key business objectives.
This position provides strategic direction for the organization’s technical infrastructure and security (including hardware, software, servers, databases, storage solutions, networks, audiovisual equipment) in support of critical business needs. Leads IT infrastructure teams and engineers supporting the statewide IT infrastructure to meet the needs of the Department of Transportation. The incumbent will also lead a team of security engineers in engineering, design, implementation, maintenance, and analysis of GDOT’s security technologies.
Ensures all approved production changes and implementations are captured and documented through the configuration management process. Responsible for the infrastructure projects complete lifecycle from project initiation through implementation and ensures that project management standards and methodologies are implemented on all projects.
- Associate degree in a related field managerial role OR
- One (1) year at the lower-level Mgr. 3, Transport Specialist (TRM
032) or at position equivalent.
Minimum Qualifications
- Professional experience managing IT budgets and contracts, driving value and eliminating waste.
- Demonstrated experience in planning, executing, and monitoring IT projects effectively.
- Demonstrated experience in an IT leadership position.
- Demonstrated strong leadership skills, with previous experience building, motivating, training, planning, directing and evaluating the effectiveness of various IT infrastructure teams.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing IT Infrastructure strategy and roadmap.
- Deep analytical skills in prioritizing teams work, assessing value of proposed solutions, and responsible decision-making implementing information systems.
- Possesses strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to express ideas and facts to leadership, groups and individuals effectively.
- Demonstrated experience identifying and solving problems. Implement innovative solutions to make organizational improvements.
- Demonstrated experience developing IT solutions that meet customer needs and enhance customer experience.
- Demonstrated experience managing IT budgets and contracts, driving value and eliminating waste.
- Demonstrated experience in planning, executing, and monitoring IT projects effectively.
- Committed to providing quality customer service.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience evaluating organization structure, processes, and tools for efficiencies and value.
- Demonstrated experience developing and/or implementing short and long-term organizational change and motivating others to reach goals.
- Demonstrated experience building, fostering, managing relationships with both internal and external organizations including vendors.
