Cox Communications, Inc. is seeking a Data Scientist II to transform data into actionable insights, extrapolating and sharing with organizational leaders to help solve vexing problems and build transformational strategies to move the business forward. Designs data modeling processes, creates algorithms, and crafts predictive models to help with planning, problem solving, and strategic and tactical decision-making. This role increasingly leverages AI and Machine Learning (ML) techniques to automate insights, personalize experiences, and drive data-driven innovation.
WhatYou’ll Do
- Collaborate with peers and colleagues to extract meaning and interpretation from data sets within an assigned area of responsibility.
- Engage with assigned leaders and teams to understand business objectives and challenges.
- Work with peers, colleagues, and senior Data Scientists to develop relevant data collection and analytical methods to investigate challenges and develop meaningful insights, including the application of appropriate ML algorithms (e.g., regression, classification, clustering).
- Develop MLOPS processes for data evaluation and model performance.
- Research and evaluate large volumes of data from disparate sources to identify statistical patterns and generate insights, including experience with data cleaning, feature engineering, and data augmentation techniques to improve model performance.
- Critically evaluate model outputs, identify potential biases, and interpret model explainability (XAI).
- Create clear and easily understood data visualizations to facilitate communication and understanding; experience with interactive dashboards and data storytelling tools is a plus.
- Share analysis and project updates with senior team members and management; proactively communicate model performance metrics, limitations, and potential biases.
- Develop, train, evaluate, and maintain machine learning models using frameworks such as Tensor Flow, PyTorch, scikit-learn, Pandas, and PySpark.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of AI-powered solutions, working closely with engineering teams for deployment and integration.
- Stay current with the latest advancements in AI, Machine Learning, and Data Science, and proactively explore opportunities to apply these advancements to solve business problems.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States for any employer without current or future sponsorship (no OPT, CPT, STEM/OPT or visa sponsorship).
- Bachelor’s degree with minimum 2 years of Data Scientist experience, or Master’s degree with minimum 1 year.
- Experience in AWS environments including Athena, S3, Bedrock, Sage Maker, Glue, and Snowflake; experience with other cloud platforms is a plus.
- Strong programming skills in Python and SQL.
- Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
- Ability to partner with cross‑functional teams to execute large‑scale projects.
- Strong analytical ability to interpret complex data sets, draw conclusions, and communicate findings.
- Excellent interpersonal, leadership, presentation, and collaborative skills.
- Business acumen and strong storytelling skills to drive action.
- Internal client service orientation and ability to work in a matrix management environment.
- Strong attention to detail and capacity to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
Base salary: $89,400.00 – $ per year. Additional compensation may be available through incentive programs.
