The Role

As the Global Data Privacy Counsel and U.S. and Canada Privacy Officer, you will advise the business on complex privacy, data protection, cybersecurity, and emerging technology issues. You will design, lead, and continuously improve our global data privacy program. You will report to our U.S.

-based Deputy General Counsel and collaborate closely with business leaders worldwide. This is a hybrid role based in Atlanta, with regular engagement with global colleagues.

What You’ll Do
  • Strategic Legal Counsel & Business Partnership
    Serve as a trusted strategic legal advisor to executive leadership, business units, and governance committees on global privacy, data protection, and cybersecurity risks and opportunities aligned with growth and innovation. Design, lead, and evolve the global privacy and data protection program, embedding privacy‑by‑design and data governance into product, technology, payments, data, software, and hardware initiatives.
  • Data Privacy Counsel & Leadership
    Lead and manage a global, unified privacy and data protection team, serve as the U.S. and Canada Privacy Officer, and own enterprise‑wide privacy policies, standards, and frameworks. Develop and maintain a privacy risk management framework and metrics dashboard. Lead audits, assessments, and emerging risk management, promote privacy‑by‑design with product teams, drive training, and interact with external counsel, auditors, and regulators.
  • AI, Emerging Tech & Data Governance
    Provide counsel on AI, machine learning, and emerging technologies, ensuring compliance with AI governance and data ethics. Lead privacy risk assessments for AI/ML projects and support responsible innovation.
  • Incident Management
    Lead and coordinate enterprise privacy incident response with Information Security and senior leadership, advising on proactive plans.
What You Will Bring
  • Juris Doctor from a reputable accredited U.S. law school.
  • Active license in good standing with one or more U.S. state bars (Georgia preferred).
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in data privacy and cybersecurity legal matters, including significant in‑house experience at a high‑growth, technology‑driven company.
  • Deep expertise in U.S. and international data privacy, cybersecurity, and compliance laws and frameworks (GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, PCI‑DSS, ISO, AI regulations).
  • Demonstrated success in strategic legal counsel balancing risk and innovation in payments and data initiatives.
  • Proven leadership of global privacy and data protection programs, including risk frameworks and governance.
  • Experience managing external counsel, auditors, and regulators.
  • Ability to lead diverse, global teams and inspire Data Protection Officers and privacy professionals.
  • Strong business acumen, translating complex legal concepts into actionable advice for business and deal acceleration.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with influence at all levels.
  • Proficiency in GRC systems is a plus.
  • Collaborative, flexible, pragmatic mindset, eager to work across cultures.
  • Fluency in English; additional languages are an asset.
