We are seeking a Senior Data Scientist who will explore and examine data from multiple sources to design and construct new data modeling processes using prototypes, algorithms, predictive models, and custom analyses.

As a Senior Data Scientist your key area of responsibility will be designing, developing, and maintaining ongoing metrics, reports, analyses, and dashboards to drive key business decisions, providing expert project leadership as an SME, and participating in cross-departmental projects establishing Geotab as a leader in data science. You will need to work closely with internal technical teams and external stakeholders to gather requirements.

To be successful in this role you will be a strong team-player with the ability to engage with all levels of the organization, and possess strong analytical skills with the ability to problem solve and make well-judged decisions. In addition, the candidate will have strong project management skills and be able to identify needs, develop effective solutions, and manage projects through to completion.

• Implement new statistical or mathematical methodologies for specific models of data analysis.
• Create algorithms and predictive models to extract information required to solve complex business problems.
• Conduct causality experiments by applying A/B experiments or epidemiological approaches to identify the root issues of an observed result.
• Identify new, complex queries from Big Data infrastructure (e.g., Google Big Query) to add value to the organization.
• Use machine learning packages (e.g., Scikit-learn and Tensorflow) to develop ML models and features.
• Test the performance of data-driven products and make recommendations for improving Geotab’s product suite.
• Collaborate with internal technical teams and external stakeholders to gather requirements.
• Build production datasets and help customers solve business problems.

• Post-secondary Diploma/Degree specialization in Data Science, Mathematics, Computer Science, Statistics, or related field.
• Graduate or post‑graduate Degree in Data Science or related field is an asset.
• 5‑8 years of experience as a Data Scientist, writing SQL queries, and programming in Python.
• Solid understanding of machine learning and operations research.
• Knowledge of data management and visualization techniques.
• Affinity for statistical analysis and predictive modeling.
• Strong business acumen and link marketing initiatives to streamline operations.
• High accuracy and meticulous attention to detail.
• Must stay relevant to technology and have flexibility to adapt to growing technology and market demands.
• Strong team-player with ability to engage with all levels of the organization.
• Technical competence using software programs, including Google Suite for business (Sheets, Docs, Slides).
