About the Team
Our People Consultant (PC) & Accommodations Team supports our Workmates across the Americas as part of the broader Talent Services organization. The PC & Accommodations team works directly with leaders and employees to provide performance coaching, counsel, and support. We regularly partner across various teams to develop policies/processes, use data to drive decision making, and are a trusted advisor to the business.
The Accommodations Specialist plays an integral role on the People Consultant team by overseeing the entire accommodations program, processes, and engaging directly with leaders and employees to find suitable accommodations globally.
About the Role
Responsibilities and Qualifications of the Role:
- Engage as a trusted adviser and subject matter expert to coach employees and managers on sensitive work-related issues related but not limited to conflict resolution, performance management, interpretation of company policy, culture and values, and make recommendations to help resolve complex and unique employment related issues.
- Assist managers and employees in understanding and applying people tools, policies, and procedures to maximize employee performance, achieve organizational effectiveness, improve employee engagement, and ensure legal compliance.
- Analyze data, understand trends, and develop proactive solutions to further support business objectives.
- Work closely with Talent Services team members to implement specific HR processes and transactions to support employee and manager-generated requests.
- Manage the accommodation program across the Americas region.
- Partner with various cross-functional teams to assure our accommodation practices are best-in-class and we are meeting all regulatory requirements.
- Respond to employee and candidate inquiries related to the reasonable accommodations processes and policy, engage in the interactive process, and collect required documentation.
- Utilize a case tracking system to maintain up-to-date records for all accommodation requests.
- Utilize relevant and appropriate medical information to assist with identifying and implementing reasonable accommodations through the interactive process.
- Consult with HR partners and provide guidance on accommodation matters.
- Research and translate job duties between essential and non-essential job functions.
- Approve and/or negotiate reasonable alternative accommodations as well as deny requests based on relevant factors when appropriate.
- Identify/spot issues and opportunities for process improvement and recommend/implement solutions.
- Manage multiple accommodation requests while adhering to case management standards and working within SLAs.
- Complete ad-hoc projects, reporting, and tasks as the need arises with cross-functional HR/Partner teams working on or leading projects/programs.
Qualifications:
- 7+ years of relevant experience working in employee relations, HR generalist, or HR business partner role with accommodation specific case management experience, working directly with employees, candidates, and cross-functional partners on end-to-end solutions.
- Sound knowledge and understanding of relevant employment standards and legislation.
- Thorough knowledge of US-specific Federal and State disability laws regarding assessing and determining accommodations for employees with disabilities, specifically ADA/ADAAA and FMLA.
- Demonstrate effective influencing skills to provide resolution to complex and highly sensitive employee issues.
- Ability to work independently and be part of a team environment while developing strong professional relationships with peers, managers, executives, and cross-functional teams.
- Ability to use sound judgment to problem solve, make decisions, and involve necessary individuals at the appropriate time.
- Displays the highest commitment to customer service and maintaining an outstanding employee experience.
- Demonstrated experience building relationships and influencing others while working cross-functionally with all levels of the organization.
- Experience communicating decisions effectively and recognizing legal risk associated with disability issues while prioritizing case elements.
- Experience exercising independent judgment and discretion while leveraging company policies and practices to determine appropriate action.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prefer experience with Workday and HR Acuity.
- BA/BS degree in Human Resources is helpful but not required.
- HR or Disability Management certification preferred.
- Experience managing confidential employee and candidate data in compliance with legal privacy laws.
