JHL Support Services is seeking a "Registered Dietitian" (RD) who shall retain their "registered" status during the entire life of the contract to menus and supervise the preparation of three meals per day to veterans at the Atlanta VAMC Domiciliary Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Program (DRRTP). Each meal shall typically be for no more than 61 residents. The RD shall facilitate the preparation of and approval of all rotating menus, serving, and cleanup of general serving/eating area in accordance with all applicable Federal, State, and local health and sanitation regulations.
- Therapeutic diet planning:Develop, review, and update therapeutic diets and diet modifications (e.g., diabetic, renal, cardiac, low sodium, texture-modified, allergies/intolerances) as required for residents.
- Menu oversight:Review cycle menus to ensure nutritional adequacy and compliance with program requirements; validate that meals meet minimum daily nutrition targets (e.g., calories/protein) and support special diet needs.
- Nutrition documentation:Maintain required diet documentation and communicate diet changes to culinary staff; ensure diet-related records are current and audit-ready.
- Food safety & quality support:Partner with kitchen leadership to ensure safe food handling and compliance with applicable food safety standards required by the program.
- Collaboration:Work with the Program Manager/Kitchen Lead to coordinate menu substitutions, special meals (including holidays), and any resident nutrition concerns.
- Training & guidance:Provide guidance and periodic training to food service staff on therapeutic diet execution, allergen awareness, portioning, and nutrition-related best practices.
- Performance support:Participate in periodic meetings/inspections or corrective action planning related to nutrition/diet issues, as needed.
Dietitian need at least a bachelor's degree in dietetics, foods, nutrition, food service systems management, or a related area. This will include courses in foods, nutrition, institution management.
Certifications,Skills & Experience:
- Active RD/RDN credential (Commission on Dietetic Registration) and ability to provide annual proof of registration.
- Experience in clinical nutrition and/or food service nutrition (healthcare, behavioral health, residential programs, or institutional feeding preferred).
- Working knowledge of therapeutic diets and allergy management.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to coordinate with culinary teams and stakeholders.
- Ability to pass any facility access requirements (background/ process) as applicable.
- Must have Serv-Safe certification.
- Experience supporting healthcare or military/government food service programs.
- Familiarity with food safety frameworks used in healthcare environments.
- Experience developing cycle menus and nutrient analysis.
