Job Summary- Ensure assigned emergency vehicles and equipment are in an acceptable state of readiness at all times.
- Provide safe and effective transportation of patients to and from predetermined locations.
- Exemplify excellent service behavior and timely responsiveness to co-workers, patients, clients, visitors, physicians and vendors.
- Maintain knowledge of all Clinical Care Guidelines, Standard Operating Procedures and Policies and Procedures of Grady EMS (GEMS) and Grady Health System.
- Ensure that all drugs, IV fluids and supplies are properly inventoried and maintained.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Ensure that all equipment and supplies are in order at the beginning and end of shift and report any deficiency to the Registered Nurse on duty. Responsible for the cleanliness and maintenance of the EMS unit and equipment.
- Work as a team, striving to perform all duties in a spirit of partnership.
- The position of Emergency Vehicle Operator (EVO) is the sole responsibility of the Emergency Medical Technician. When responding to an emergency as EVO, the EMT-I shall drive in a safe and appropriate manner, consistent with the training and guidelines established in the EMS Emergency Vehicle Operations course. Complies with current directive and protocols for Angel II Neonatal Transport.
- Retain thorough knowledge of Angel II regional territory and use of map books. Shall have thorough knowledge of hospitals and emergency department locations in the regional area.
- Maintains thorough knowledge of all medical codes and pertinent GEMS radio signal and procedures. Ensure the accurate documentation and processing of all ePCR and OHR trip reports.
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Intermediate EMT License
- Maintain current American Heart Association Provider Card for BLS and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
- Must have a current driver's license within 30 days of employment. Acceptable motor vehicle record according to departmental standard
