Psychological Specialist – Emory Healthcare
OverviewShift: 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Responsibilities- Coordinate and conduct clinical or research activities related to psychological evaluation and treatment of patients or research participants.
- Provide psychological, physiological and/or behavioral assessments of patients.
- Administer a variety of neuropsychological tests requiring advanced formal education to assess cognitive functioning, academic skills, personality, emotional development, and behavior.
- Develop ideas to facilitate research studies and propose new research studies; recruit, screen, and conduct clinical evaluations of potential participants.
- Assist in determining eligibility to participate in clinical trials.
- Collect, compile and analyze data related to psychological or behavioral studies.
- Extract statistical data and prepare reports.
- Conduct interviews and schedule regular visits with study participants and their caregivers.
- Write psychological reports, interpret results, and provide consultation and advice regarding post-study therapy, interventions, and behavior management.
- Educate patients regarding research procedures, investigational devices, and drugs.
- Maintain accurate and complete documentation on mental health care services delivered to study participants.
- Make referrals to mental health professionals or services; dispense medication in compliance with research protocols.
- Attend and participate in regular administrative and clinical staff meetings; conduct education or informational presentations for targeted audiences.
- Possibly present study findings at conferences and perform related responsibilities as required.
- A degree in education, psychology, social work or a related field.
- One year of directly related experience.
Sedentary; occasional lifting of up to 10 lbs; frequent sitting; occasional standing and walking.
EnvironmentBlood-borne pathogen exposure; bio-hazardous waste; chemicals; communicable diseases; electrical shock; hot/cold temperatures; indoor/outdoor conditions; latex; lighting; patient care; radiation; shift work; travel may be required; use of personal protective equipment.
