Job Summary
Certified dietitians in Georgia, also known as licensed or registered dietitians (LD/RD), provide clinical nutrition services in settings like hospitals, clinics, long‑term care, and public health programs. They assess nutritional needs, develop individualized care plans, and deliver medical nutrition therapy to promote health and manage diseases. State licensure through the Georgia Board of Examiners of Licensed Dietitians is required for practice.

Key Responsibilities- Conduct nutritional assessments for patients across age groups, reviewing health records, lab values, dietary habits, and medical conditions to identify risks and needs.
- Develop, implement, and monitor personalized nutrition care plans, including diet modifications, meal planning, and counseling for conditions such as chronic diseases, oncology, or renal issues.
- Provide education and counseling to patients, families, and staff on dietary principles, food selection, preparation, and lifestyle changes, adapting to cultural, socioeconomic, and physical factors.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary teams to integrate nutrition into overall patient care and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
- Inspect food services, monitor operations for safety and quality, and participate in performance improvement initiatives or community outreach programs.
- Document progress in medical records, track outcomes, and maintain continuing education for license renewal, typically 30 hours every two years.
- Bachelor's or master's degree in dietetics or related field from an ACEND‑accredited program, plus RD credential from the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) and Georgia licensure.
- At least one year of clinical experience preferred; skills in empathy, problem‑solving, and interdisciplinary collaboration are essential.
