Position Summary
Provide assistance to the clinical team with vascular procedures within the vascular center. As a member of our team, you will interact with patients, physicians, and dialysis facilities as part of our community educational program and participate in other educational outreach initiatives.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities- Prepare and position patient for diagnostic imaging procedures.
- Perform ultrasound imaging and related procedures in all areas of ultrasound.
- Exercise professional judgment in the performance of services and maintain a demeanor complementary to medical ethics.
- Adjust immobilization devices to obtain optimum views of specified areas of the body requested by the physician.
- Explain procedures to patients to reduce anxieties and obtain patient cooperation.
- Move imaging equipment into specified position, determine exposure factors based on height, weight, body portion involved, and degree of penetration required, and adjust equipment controls to set exposure factors and produce images of proper detail, density, and accuracy.
- Practice radiation protection techniques to minimize radiation to patient and staff.
- Perform specialized and routine diagnostic radiology procedures, including nuclear medicine and sonography.
- Assist radiologist in fluoroscopic and special X‑ray examinations.
- Prepare images for reading by radiologist or requesting physician.
- Perform routine maintenance, diagnose malfunctions, and make minor repairs on radiologic equipment, arranging for repairs as needed.
- Complete forms and maintain records, logs, and reports of work performed.
- Monitor patients during procedures, operating a C‑Arm (within the scope of practice).
- Prepare equipment, including cleaning and sterilizing instruments, and maintain inventory of medical supplies.
- Possess knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform all vascular ultrasound procedures.
- Provide excellent customer service to patients, physicians, visitors, and co‑workers.
- Demonstrate understanding of patient safety initiatives by strict compliance with all safety protocols and procedures as required.
- ARDMS or RVT certification required.
- Minimum one year experience in interventional radiology, special procedures, cardiac catheterization lab, or general diagnostic preferred.
- Knowledge of sterile technique.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required or willing to obtain within three months of employment.
Completion of an educational program accredited by a mechanism acceptable to ARDMS, completion of clinical hours and studies applicable to the test for RVT certification if not currently RVT registered. RVT registry certification preferred.
