UNCLASSIFIED POSITION
Current Vacancy – E‑911 Emergency Services Department
Salary: $49,925.00
Minimum Qualifications- High School Diploma or GED required, with at least two (2) years of Emergency Dispatch experience or one (1) year as a Communications Officer I (Fulton County Government Emergency Services current or former employee only).
- Must attain and maintain the following certifications within one year of employment:
- Georgia Crime Information Center (GCIC) / National Crime Information Center (NCIC) Certification
- Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) Certification
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification
- Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Certification (3 levels)
- National Incident Management System (NIMS) courses
- Certification on all Dispatch Consoles
- Must demonstrate proficiency in essential job functions and understand county/departamental policies and procedures.
- All applicants must pass background investigation, skills assessment, psychological evaluation, physical/drug screening, and polygraph.
- Must possess a valid Georgia Driver's License at appointment.
- Must be at least 18 years of age and a U.S. citizen.
- Must not have been convicted of any felony or pattern of misdemeanors that could impede law‑enforcement duties.
- Answer incoming emergency and non‑emergency voice/text 9‑1‑1 calls, including TDD calls.
- Determine call nature, enter information into Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system, assign priority, and advise supervisors.
- Provide lifesaving and pre‑arrival instructions to callers, remain available during unit response, and check medical status.
- Dispatch appropriate agencies (police, fire, marshal, EMS) using CAD and radio, and coordinate multi‑unit, multi‑jurisdictional responses.
- Maintain awareness of available response units, keep contact with units, and facilitate correct response coordination.
- Retrieve and relay GCIC/NCIC information such as driver license, weapon registration, vehicle tags, identification numbers, and dates of birth to law enforcement.
- Contact agencies to confirm warrants and relay information on located, recovered, or stolen articles.
- Make phone calls to complainants, alarm companies, wreckers, EMS, and other agencies as required.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Data Utilization – determine, calculate, tabulate, and summarize information, making judgment calls.
- Human Interaction – apply persuasion and influence to coordinate programs and resolve problems.
- Equipment Utilization – operate and control equipment, machinery, tools, and materials for essential functions.
- Verbal Aptitude – use a wide variety of data and information.
- Mathematical Aptitude – perform basic arithmetic and recording of counts.
- Functional Reasoning – interpret written, oral, or diagrammatic instructions and exercise independent judgment.
- Situational Reasoning – exercise judgment, decisiveness, and creativity in broader program or operational settings.
