Position
Start your career in public service. The DHS Office of Inspector General (OIG) - Internal Affairs Unit (IAU) is seeking candidates for the position of Compliance Specialist 2 (Senior Investigator). This position is hybrid with travel to the agency's headquarters at 47 Trinity Ave, SW, Atlanta, GA, and to local offices as needed.

Responsibilities
  • Under general supervision, plan, organize or coordinate the activities of an assigned program; review, monitor and ensure compliance with program policies and procedures.
  • Investigate internal DHS employee/contractor misconduct, including potential violations of federal and state laws, departmental rules, regulations and policies, and allegations of fraud, waste and abuse.
  • Coordinate pre-investigative, investigative and post-investigative efforts with internal administration, prosecutors and state and federal agencies.
  • Organize and evaluate data from various sources, using research methods and interview skills to prepare clear and concise investigative reports.
  • Determine if evidence is sufficient to recommend prosecution and manage case loads; provide testimony in administrative hearings and criminal courts.
  • Provide training to team members and other DHS employees; perform other professional responsibilities as assigned.
Core Competencies
  • Willingness and ability to travel for work-related responsibilities.
  • Excellent investigative skills with verifiable experience.
  • Strong oral, written and interpersonal communication skills; attention to detail in written work.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and standard corporate office software.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma/GED and three (3) years of related experience, or
  • Two (2) years of experience at the Compliance Specialist 1 level or equivalent.
Preferred

Skills and Qualifications
  • Prior full-time professional investigative experience with a state, federal or local agency, or internal investigations within public or private sectors.
  • Experience conducting interviews of complainants, witnesses and subjects; ability to elicit detailed and accurate information.
  • Experience conducting administrative or criminal investigations in law enforcement or regulatory environments.
  • Experience interpreting laws, policy, rules or regulations to reach investigative conclusions.
  • Master’s degree in a related field (preferred) or Bachelor’s with related experience; or Associate’s with related experience.
