. The Georgia Department of Human Services (DHS), Office of Inspector General (OIG) - Internal Affairs Unit (IAU) is seeking candidates for the position of Compliance Specialist 2 (Senior Investigator).
This position is considered hybrid with the incumbent having to travel to the agency's
headquarters at 47 Trinity Ave, SW, located in Atlanta, Fulton County, Georgia and local offices throughout the state as needed.

Under general supervision, may plan, organize or coordinate the activities of an assigned program. Reviews, monitors and ensures compliance with assigned program area's policies and procedures.
This position reports to the Supervisor in the Internal Investigations Unit. The person in this position may provide peer support to, and direct the work of, other staff within the same unit. The person in this position is responsible for internal investigations of DHS employee/contractor misconduct, to include violations of federal and state laws as well as departmental rules, regulations and policies, and investigations of allegations involving fraud, waste and abuse within the agency.
RoleAnd Responsibilities
- Coordinates pre-investigative, investigative and post investigative efforts with internal administration, prosecutors and state and federal agencies.
- Organizes and evaluates data from various sources, utilizing research methods, interview skills, and proficiency in the use of technology to compile clear and concise investigative reports, according to established procedures.
- Investigates alleged or suspected violations of federal, state and local laws as well as rules and regulations to determine if evidence is sufficient to recommend prosecution.
- Manages a caseload.
- Provides testimony in administrative hearings and criminal courts.
- Works closely with and provides training to other team members or other employees of DHS.
- Performs other professional responsibilities, as assigned.
- Ability to engage in travel for work related responsibilities.
- Excellent investigative skills, with verifiable investigative experience.
- Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to use proper spelling, grammar and punctuation in written product, as initially assessed by a review of application credentials submitted.
- Strong proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite and/or standard software applications typically used in corporate office environments.
- High school diploma/GED AND three (3) years of job-related experience.
- Two (2) years of experience required at the lower level Compliance Specialist 1 (RCP
060) or position equivalent.
Preference will be given to candidates who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, demonstrate some or all the following education/skills/experience:
- Prior full-time professional investigative experience with a state, federal, or local law enforcement agency, government entity, or internal investigations / internal affairs unit within the public or private sector.
- Strong experience conducting interviews of complainants, witnesses, and subjects/accused parties, with demonstrated ability to elicit detailed and accurate information to support investigative findings.
